Huge explosion rocked Crimea base, 30 Russian soldiers may have died 11
(Dan Tri) – 30 Russian soldiers may have died in an explosion at a Russian military base in northern Crimea.
`About 30 Russian soldiers were killed and about 80 injured at the airport in Dzhankoy,` Crimean Telegram channel Crimean Wind reported on April 17.
According to Newsweek news agency, Crimean Wind is a pro-Ukraine monitoring group that focuses on the Crimea region and often provides reliable information.
Natalia Humeniuk, a spokeswoman for Ukraine’s southern forces, described Dzhankoy as a legitimate military target but declined to provide further details.
`It is clear that this is a military airport, that is, a legitimate target. Russia regularly moves assets to protect them from damage. But it is not always successful,` the spokesman said
A famous Russian military blogger, Rybar, said Ukrainian forces attacked the Russian air base at Dzhankoy using more than 10 Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS).
Russia has not yet commented on the above information.

The video, widely circulated on social networks by Russian and Ukrainian news sources this morning, shows flashes of light and loud explosions, along with the sound of sirens.
Several Telegram channels reported a series of explosions starting before 4 a.m. (local time) and said nearby roads had been blocked.
Dzhankoy, located south of the crossing from Crimea into the Kherson region, is a major military center.
Previous satellite images taken in Dzhankoy showed that Russia has several helicopters and advanced air defense systems at the site.

Ukraine previously launched attacks on Russian military bases in Crimea.
Earlier this year, Ukraine’s air force announced missile attacks on Belbek airport near the port city of Sevastopol on the western edge of Crimea.
The Crimean peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in 2014, has become an important area helping Russia launch its military campaign in Ukraine.
The Crimean peninsula in the Black Sea still serves as a base where Russia deploys aircraft and warships to monitor Ukraine.
