Russia launched a heavy attack, Ukraine withdrew its troops on many fronts 0
(Dan Tri) – Russia is making daily tactical advances on the eastern front of Ukraine, while Kiev forces are still waiting for military aid from the West.

Russian forces have made further advances in at least three locations along Ukraine’s eastern front, with Moscow making advances in the northern Kharkiv region for the first time.
Russia’s tactical advances are now daily and reflect the new pace on the Ukrainian battlefield since the fall of the industrial city of Avdiivka in February.
According to CNN, the advances made by Russian forces are generally modest – from a few hundred meters of territory to at most 1km – but often take place in many locations at the same time.
One of the main offensive efforts of Russian forces is in the Donetsk region.
Defense bloggers on both sides have reported that Russian forces have taken control of the Semenivka and Berdychi settlements.
Kiev’s top general admitted Russian forces continued to advance further west from Donetsk, forcing Ukrainian units to retreat from three more villages in the face of fierce attacks by multiple brigades.
Ukrainian troops withdrew from the villages of Berdychi and Semyonovka, northwest of Avdiivka, and from Novomikhailovka, southwest of Donetsk.
`The most difficult situation is in the direction of Pokrovsk and Kurakhovo, where fierce battles continue. The enemy has engaged up to four brigades in these directions and is trying to push an offensive to the west
A few kilometers north, Soloviove is also now believed to be under Russian control and the small settlement of Keramik is at least partly `in the hands` of Russian forces.
`The withdrawal of troops from the Donetsk campaign area continues,` said Ukrainian military blogger Myroshnykov.

A little further south, Russian forces are also advancing on the industrial town of Krasnohorivka, entering from the south and east.
`Taking control of the refractories factory effectively meant the fall of the Krasnohorivka fortress, since the northern suburbs of the area were residential buildings, which would have been difficult to defend if the factory fell
Elsewhere, about 180km to the north, Russian forces have also made their first advances in nearly three months along the section of the front line cutting into the Kharkiv region.
A Ukrainian military spokesman described Russian forces in the area as having advanced `significantly more aggressively` over the past day, while DeepState estimated a Russian advance of 1 to 2km into the village of Kyslivka.
Overall, the front line in this region has been among the most stable since Ukraine recaptured a large swath of territory in the Kharkiv region in late summer 2022.
In recent days, Russian troops also took control of the town of Bogdanovka, located near the strategic town of Chasov Yar in the north of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
The Ukrainian general admitted on April 28 that Russian forces were attacking along `the entire front line`, stretching more than 1,000km.
Many Western analysts, along with Ukrainian officials, see the current pace of advance by Russian forces as a harbinger of a large-scale attack later this spring.
Moscow is said to want to take advantage of its significant advantage in ammunition before US aid to Ukraine reaches the front line.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) assesses that Ukraine will face more short-term setbacks, but there will not be major strategic setbacks.
`Russian forces are likely to make significant tactical advances in the coming weeks as Ukraine waits for US security aid to arrive, but it is still unlikely to overwhelm Russian defenses.`
Ukraine’s other major weakness is manpower.
`The quality (of Russia’s soldiers) is of course different, but the quantitative advantage is a serious problem,` said Rob Lee, a researcher at the Foreign Policy Research Institute.
`Without the advantage in manpower, Russia’s advantage in artillery and air power will not be enough for Russia to gain an advantage on the battlefield. The relative manpower situation can be considered the most important factor in deciding
